I RECENTLY AQUIRED A COUPLE OF EARLY OEM CB77 CLUTCH CABLES. THE CABLES HAVE THE ZERK FITTINGS TO LUBERCATE THE CABLES AND SHORT COIL SPRINGS ON THE LEVER END. COULD ANYONE SHEAD SOME LIGHT ON JUST WHAT THESE SPRINGS ARE THERE FOR? I CAN SEE THE SPRINGS DEPICTED ON THE HONDA PARTS FITCHE BUT CAN'T FIND ANY PICTURES OF THEM INSTALLED ON A BIKE.

Fred, I have a couple old used cables that have the zerk fitting and the spring as well. I've never actually tried to mount them. I'd think they were supposed to aid in cable release, after all, if you pack the cable with grease, it's not going to return quickly. I use a cable luber, and good quality cable lube that is slicker than snot, whick they surely didn't have back in the day.
