cb77 front fender have old style need new style or modify ??

ok here is the question i got a fender on ebay but it is the type 1 for the steel legs mine are aluminum i understand the mount is differant but how much? can it be cut and welded? or should i just put the type 1 front end (needs a seal holder) i have from another parts bike on my 1966? thanks
