New Super Hawk Owner

Hi I just bought my first bike and first Super Hawk. I was wanting something classic and clean and stumbled onto this 1966 305 Super Hawk. It's a bit of a project but I'm really excited about it. I have to admit that I really dont know where to begin with it. I've read a lot of the threads on this forum so I think that'll help me. I have a background in customizing cars so I know with enough money just about anything is possible. The only thing I know about my Super Hawk is that the carbs were just rebuilt and it idles over 2000 rpms. I need to figure out whats wrong with that. My first guess is adjusting the carbs. I know that this is an aftermarket seat and I dont think I like as much as the stock seat. My plans are to get it running properly and then fully restoring it to where it shines and rides perfect. And probably make it go a bit faster.

What are the frame and engine numbers?. .....................lm

The Frame is CB771024440
The Engine is CB77E-1050765

I'd say ya have a 65 bike and a 67 engine. Plus I'm not sure other parts are correct for the frame number. ........lm

I recommend the Bill Silver tech books sold on CD on this site. They helped me greatly on my first Super Hawk rebuild project a few years ago, worth every penny.

Just to clarify...Bill Silver is not affiliated with this site, far as I know--he just advertises here. So it's not the site charging a fee--it's a guy who knows a lot about these bikes selling books he wrote independently. And I have no financial interest in promoting his stuff. I'm just a satisfied customer saying what worked for me.
