well, the fender isn't chopped. so that's nice.
looks like you'll have a lot of fun with this one :P
Another new Superhawk owner Some pic's added
Yes, it has the type II speedo/tach by your discription.e3steve wrote:Looks like a 'true' '67 there! Type-2 forks, lip-up seat, fat taillight, chrome mudgu.... fenders; should have a type-II speedo/tacho (both needles c/w sweep) too. Lotsa fun to be had for the next couple of weeks, then.......
I've made some progress, low bars, new cables - except speedo cable, and allen head engine bolts, tail light lens, foot peg rubbers. Haven't cleaned the engine cases yet but did drain the oil and pull the oil pump - all looks very clean. Not getting new pipes yet, had extensions made to move shorty mufflers back and a slight upsweep and painted entire exhaust VHT flat black and new baffles. I think they look pretty good for a cheap fix(for now). Rear fender is dented pretty bad - like someone used a hammer on it - may have to sand it and paint it then look for a replacement later. Need to replace the rear tire - 4.00X18" it rubs and theres no chain adjustment left. It's a shame cause the tire looks almost new! and actually looks good on the bike. Gonna pull the carbs next and clean them up and check the jets etc.
I was reading on yahoo 305 forum and someone said 67/68 superhawks were either candy orange or blue in color?
Is that true as mine looks like original paint and its black and silver with chrome fenders!
The cb750 has taken a back seat to the Superhawk for now, got the cases split but can't get myself into it now!!!
67 cb77 Superhawk - newest project
78 cb750k Caferacer (sort of)

Candy Orange? Ed, can you answer this one?
I know that there were some all-chrome dealer specials (see pic) but, other than that, I only know of the four official colours for CBs. Then again, I'm no oracle!
I'll have a rear fender on offer in the next month or two. Needs painting but no deep rust (maybe a little surface here & there). Only poblem for you is that it has the extra bolt hole, above the flipper, for the European tail-light/plate bracket. Could be brazed/welded, ground down & filled. Otherwise in good shape.

There, you see? CLs again! I said I know JS about CLs.... And although I'm sure they must've been imported to UK I never saw one when I lived there. CAs & CBs aplenty......-ish. Very few Cs though. Most of our cushty single-carbers had the American western-style 'bar and trafficators (winkers), a la CA95, hanging off the bar.
My bike porn started in earnest around '69, when the BSA Bushman 175 along with its kid brother, the Bantam D14/4 (/4 denoting 4-speed... wahey!) were the flavour of the year. Then, in '70, along came the Starfire 250 with its radically-shaped fibreglass tank. The Bonnie and the A10 Road Rocket were the ultimate(!). Imagine our elation when we first saw the Dream 750! Well, that's what a K0 was called in UK.
Then a mate brought along a secondhand '66 450BB and we all said 'Jap Crap; it won't last..........'. 40 years on we (well, I) feel humbled, and take delight in eating those immortal words!
Preserve and use these classics we all own; they'll never happen upon mankind again -- no matter what colour.
Thanks, Ed, for the knowledge that you possess and share. We all look to you for guidance, and that's a fact, me ol' Tex cuz!
