Can anyone help a newby please?
I have just aquired a CB77 that was imported from the US in 2013, engine no. is CB77E-403823 frame no. is CB77-403829, it has a wire harness label with 1964 on it.
My problem is the bike has been confirmed as a 1962 by Honda (UK) then registered as such by the DVLA.
Prior study of this forum leads me to believe it to be a 1964.
Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
What year is my CB77?
Hi
For some reason people seem to get the numbers mixed up. Here is a page out of teh official Honda parts book.
This shows that your bike is indeed a '64 model.

Yedar can I ask why you went to Honda UK for dating?
I spoke to someone recently who told me that they had no records of older machines and being neither interested or helpful. The DVLA another story, not even any common sense, I have a bike that was registered 9 months before it was built, not looking forward to registering my latest project.

Good question Malcolmgb, the person who had it registered in the UK supplied a letter from Honda UK saying it was a 1962 to the DVLA.
All these documents came with the bike when I bought it, so realising a mistake has been made & having no experience of these matters I thought Honda UK (optomistic or what!) would be a good starting point.
I did receive an acknowledgement for my letter but no more, I may write to the DVLA in the future if I get another wave of optomism. In the meantime I am enjoying this excellent forum helping to get my 1964 CB77 as original looking as the one I bought new in 1964....pure nostalgia.

Okay maybe best you go with what you have, dealing with DVLA can be difficult at best and that was before they closed the local offices, since you now have to go to Swansea direct you will struggle to speak to a human being and if you do they seem only to follow a script.
Good Luck
