Well, LM an others have helped to try to diagnose my jumping into gear problem so I thought I'd share some pics of my new project!

Another Newbie!
Re: Another Newbie!
Should mention that it's a 65 I bought on eBay from a guy who's had it for over 10 years. It hasn't been run so I'm going through all the recommended tank, petcock, carb cleaning, etc. before I try to get it started. While I'm waiting for the battery I ordered, I am getting rid of the stupid purple paint, which was sprayed over perfectly good black paint! Some people.

Thanks, to pass along a positive that I located a spare ignition key from a fellow in Toronto for $10 plus $3 shipping! Only other source I found on eBay wanted $50 to cut one. Here's a quick update…got my gel MotoBatt battery, hooked it up and it turns over, the headlight, horn and brake light all work fine. This is a step in the right direction. Ordered a remote fuel bottle so I can get it started and adjust carbs, etc. while I get the fuel tank finished. This weekend I hope to see if it fires!dragonfly888 wrote:Looks like a nice project... Okay, so here's a different project that came out pretty nice for me! https://www.flickr.com/photos/132976933 ... res/14683J
Took advice on here to redo one of the two rear shocks...went from hideous purple, to scuffed up black to shiny black! Came out nice, but was a pain to get the covers back on by myself!dragonfly888 wrote:Looks like a nice project... Look forward to seeing your progress !
Also, got the purple paint off of the black tank

Lots of fun! Working on the new bars and cables now while the rear fender paint dries.
