lowering a superhawk

Post by 305nutt » Tue Jul 05, 2011 8:07 pm

Hello, has anyone ever tried to lower a superhawk? I'm building a superhawk conversion with a cb350f engine on it and thought about lowering it about an inch and a half or so. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks nutt

4 cylinder motors tend to sit lower than a stock CB77 and are considerably wider. Won't lowering it reduce your ground clearance?

And a CB77 doesn't exactly handle well with 40HP, the frame twists and the swingarm is like a pretzel. I was silly enough to follow a fellow CB77 racer some years ago and was appalled at the way his bike lurched and moved around - especially as mine felt like it was doing the same thing.

If you are vertically challenged and absolutely have to lower it, you really need to modify the frame and fit different forks - or cut down the seat foam slightly

Yeah, I'm not quite sure if the 4cyl sits lower or not, I guess I should measure off my stock superhawk. Not really vertically challanged or anything, I like the look of a sleek and low machine. I have a 78 flh harley that I lowered 2 inches. Definately helps handling too. The superhawk was just a thought. thanks nutt
