i've tried searching, but i found comflicting info...which of the following keys is the correct original key for code T964x? both sellers are telling me that the keys they have pictured are genuine honda NOS.

also, i want to make sure i get proper manuals to aid in my restoration process. besides recommending the silver books, what's the consensus on the honda 250/305 factory service manual or clymer manual? i'm not necessarily looking for step-by-step instructions, i'd be happy as long as i have access to good diagrams and torque specs for fasteners.

most recent pic...

since then i've:

cleaned the original DID's, it's amazing how well they cleaned up with a scotchbrite pad and wire wheel, far from perfect but very acceptable for a rider.

figured out that the chopped front fender was an original. ground and punched out the drive rivets to scavenge the bracket and will reinstall on the other fender.

bought a set of original mufflers in really good shape for $10! ordered some muffler rubber packing gaskets and will reinstall after cleaning up some original headers.

stripped the toolbox, air filter covers, headlight shell. still have to strip the tank and fork covers. removing the rear shock covers is the hardest part of working on these bikes for me.

the handlebar pictured is temp to be able to move the bike around. will be reinstalling the original mid-height bar after i finish polishing up the clutch/f brake lever perches.

bought an agm battery from a local company (will post more info in the product review section). the dimensions are spot on but the terminals are reversed...works out since i snapped the lug off my existing chassis ground cable, will install a new one on the right side of the frame. test fitted it and looks like the pos cables from the starter solenoid and rectifier will reach the post.

i have to say that it's extremely pleasing to work on these bikes. simple, intuitive, well engineering, small/light enough to work on without assistance.

hey, not sure if you have picked anything up yet, but the bill silver cd-rom has the entire honda shop manual on it, plus lots and lots of bonus material. WELL worth it, and really the only reference you need

Welcome to our humble little(!) club, here. Hope you have a supply of Valium for the journey ahead!
mobilyte wrote:hello everybody!

been lurking and doing my research for a few months now. finally picked up 2 superhawks this weekend! will post pictures and more info later, but here is what i got...

bike 1:
frame: cb77-102090x
engine: cb77e-102099x
Can you tell us the year on the wiring harness tag (under the tank) for bike 1, for the database that I'm collating, please? I'm putting together a year-of-manufacture list -- not registration -- for '65-'67 CBs. It will help to fill in some blanks in Bill's and Honda's production records.

TIA and good luck with the projects!

the honda parts manual is the only reference manual i used. reading the posts on this forum helps, i would encourage new members to use the search function...i've found that almost every one of my questions was previously answered in other posts.

spent this morning finishing up prep work, loaded up the booth and shot everything with primer. the only parts that i am not refinishing are the frame, swingarm and front fork bottom cases. here's some teaser pics...

put down some color this morning using glasurit 55 series

both imron 45040U and PPG 33283 crossed to Mazda K3 (sunbeam silver metallic C2M MA097.50)
straight 1250 (deep black) instead of imron 99U
