Dream points

Hello everybody. So I decided to change my contact points because I didn't think I was getting very much spark and, what the hell, I had a new set just sitting there. I tried to memorize exactly where the old points were before I removed them in relation to the cam lobe but,of course, that didn't work very well. My question is this: How do I place the new set of points onto the plate? Is the heel supposed to press against the lobe? Talk to me like I'm 4 please. Jeff H.
