i cleaned it all up and found that if i push up on the moving part of the point to the top part it starts to dim out the light i think perhaps my points are burned out and just need replaced and i found some at a place called retrobike.com.
do you know if these are any good?
do you know where to pick up some oem honda points?
anyway i'm done for the nite and gonna hammer at it again in tghe morning
light stays on open or closed pointsHi G! If that's a CB, make sure the other set of points is open. Stick a piece of cardboard in there. If they are closed, current will go through the coils and back to ground through them. Note that the yellow and green wires are connected at the condenser. The light will only get dimmer if this happens.
IgnitionG, just as a side note, I always stuff a rag in the spark plug hole when I'm working on the points. Also, everything I've got from retro bikes has been great, excellent folks to deal with. Good luck......................................D
thats good to hearits the ca77 single point and i'm pretty sure there fried so i'm gonna start with a fresh set of points and i ordered a manual to assist me but you guys are all great and theres things that the book won't tell without experience but now i'm gonna take a few days and wait for my new points to arrive
take care and thanks for the help and " I'll BE BACK "
