thanks RW,
I don't think it is an overheating issue, as it happens when the bike has been still for a long time.

For clarity I have attempted some photo's.

there is a white patch on the paintwork in this first photo, this is where I have written "Behind Here" using photoshop. This is where the module is.

from the right hand side of the bike.

You can see that it is in there with a lot of other wiring, and that the "sheilded" wire is way too long.

I am going to take it to an auto electrician and get him to shorten the wire. This will make it very neat and the other wires will not bother it.
I don't have the tools required to do it myself, I think this is the best option.

took it for a ride yesterday.
it was 35 degrees celsius, so quite a hot day.

The bike performed flawlessly.
Rode it up to the local Weir, so basically up the steepest hills around with a small group.
One Vespa, and one 1957 Matchless.

by the end of the day both other bikes were in the back of a van and the Honda did not miss a beat.
I am still going to get the wire shortened, to make it look neater and more original, but I am very happy with the performance.
100km/h up a long steep hill with two up in 35 degree heat.

Greg, c'mon mate, were freezing our arses off here in the states! Well maybe not so bad here in Northern Ca , but no 35 celcius! Glad to hear the Honda didn't end up in the van!

What do Harleys and Dogs have in common, they both like to ride in the back of pickups.

What's the difference between a Harley, and a vacume cleaner? Location of the dirt bag! Oh yeah, I worked in a Harley shop when I was 18, and owned one for several years!
