speedo cable

Bought a speedo cable from Taiwan for my 66' cl77 installed it, pretty sure the tip found the slot at the hub.took the bike for a short ride, speedo needle didn't move. What's the trouble shoot for a stuck needle.

test the speedo with a bit of cable in a drill motor (ccw). either it works or it doesn't. they can be rebuilt, it's very expensive. also check that the speedo gearbox is properly meshed at the axle (long shot)
