CA78 or CA95

Post by alan305 » Fri Sep 14, 2018 10:36 am

I am trying to get parts for my recently acquired 305, hen's teeth come to mind, however CA95 parts look similar , the dealers are unwilling/ unable to confirm whether the parts eg speedo will fit a CA78. Any ideas please ?

Generally the answer is no to most parts. The bike is generally smaller almost everywhere......

See if you can get specific part numbers instead of asking them for the part by name.

A good dealer would look it up or ask you for a part number.

As G-Man said - I wouldn't expect anything to interchange between the models.

You can also confirm, in the case of the speedo for example, by searching pictures on the internet. CA78 and CA95 speedos are a different shape and slightly different sizes.

A good question here for the crew. A couple things come to my mind. ignition switch will interchange but not be correct. fuel petcock is a direct swap. seats will for the most part swap but not be correct. switch gear with some variation for model years? taillight assembly (6vs12v).
Anybody have more to add?
Thanks
Randy

Randy

I had a C92 many years ago but I'm not an expert. Your list is pretty comprehensive.

How about gear lever (think it had a flat pedal both ends)? Rear footpeg rubbers? Blinkers (if you have them) and rear light?
