The folks at Retrobikes also have the mirrors. As e3steve mentioned, the upper leg of the stalk that the mirror attaches to needs to be bent downward. After having measured some original mirrors, the upper leg needs to be about 18 degrees from horizontal when the lower leg (that screws into the lever perch) is vertical. I've used a stationary vise (with smooth jaws) to anchor the lower portion, and a small hand-held machinist's vise (smooth jaws, again) to clamp the upper portion securely. Twist the upper vise to bend the upper leg to the proper angle. It's usually best to do this in a fairly warm environment to reduce the possibility of the chrome cracking. Regards, Chase

Good call, Chase. I carried out similar surgery, clamping the upper bend in a rag-packed vice, removed the locking nut and slipped a length of plastic 15mm / ½" 'Terrain' (grey 'Acorn' / 'Bartol') domestic water pipe over the thread and up to the lower bend. I then used a long 17mm ring spanner (wrench), slipped over said pipe to torsionally twist the straight section between the lower & upper bends. Worked a treat; no damage and no flaws in the chrome. Seemples!

Mirror surgery
Here is the most excellent diagram e3steve forwarded to me illustrating the details. Helped me out on account of my brain isn't setting any records lately. Thanks again, Steve!
