I want to open up the clutch basket of this '62 dream and clean the clutch plates with WD40 because they are dirty. I noticed that the 4 hex bolts that hold down the springs were not tightned all the way , but were 4 1/2 turns out from the bottom. With my 68 CD175, the Clymer book says to tighten them down securely. Is there a difference with the 305 . Seems logical to tighten them up all the way . Thanks, Jeff

Methinks someone forgot to tighten them.

When I took mine apart the bolts were also loose. There was a mixed stack of plates of different thickness making total stack too much. I think they were left loose so the clutch could be pulled (it was still hard.) If you have the all fiber plates you might want to check for that.

Wow, this gets deep, but it's OK; I'm just looking at spending some bucks for parts on e-bay which I'm not too crazy about for some reason. hA! - Jeff
