CA77 Clutch

Post by Raceman » Tue Dec 12, 2017 7:38 pm

I have a 1964? CA78 Vin CA78 1000050 and CA77E 1000050. I took it apart and cleaned it a year ago and it is now slipping. It has 5- 4mm friction discs and 4 steel discs. The friction discs range from 3.79 mm to 3.86 mm and the steel discs range from 1.54 to 1.59 mm. I am thinking that the friction discs should be replaced. There are several combinations of friction and steel discs, using 3 or 4 mm friction discs. I do not know which combination is optimum. LM would you please guide me?

I stand corrected. There is a 5th steel disc still in the basket, held in place by the wire. It is thicker than the other 4.

I just spoke with LM ,he explained reality to me and is sending me the parts to fix my clutch. He is a great resource for the 305 community.
