Clutch adjustments cl 77

Have this cl 77 for a month now and only issue I still have is the clutch. I have adjusted it at the lever. If I adjusted too far, it slips in 3rd gear when accelerating and when I adjust it back at the handle, then it is hard to put it in gear! Should I adjust it at the right side engine casing. Thanks!

Sounds like you have plenty of adjustment at the lever. What does "adjusted too far" mean? No play at the lever?

You only need to use the adjuster on the case if you cannot get the adjustment at the lever.

Send pictures as it's difficult to make guesses at a distance.

How much had the bike been used before you got it? How many miles have you done? You need to provide good background if you want good answers. Clutches get sticky if not used for long periods.

Turn case adjuster all the way down
Loosen the bolt with the 10mm wrench.
Using a large screw driver loosen the large round part with the "P" on it right and left.
Turn that part to the right until it won't turn then back 1/8 inch and tighten that bolt.
Now adjust the lever to 3/8" wide at the open end of the lever near the cable when you squeeze it.
Should do the job unless something is wrong. .......................lm

For the easiest pull at the lever, back off the cable adjustments all the way, then adjust the clutch lifter at the case. Like Ed says, turn it in clockwise until snug then back it off for running clearance. Tighten the 6mm bolt(5-6 foot pounds, no more, they are easy to break) on the adjuster and finally adjust the cable for the right amount of free travel at the handle.
