CB77 brake cams

Post by Kaiser Karl » Tue Nov 21, 2017 9:49 am

Hi folks from merry old England.
I have a '65 CB77, US version and after relining both sets of brake shoes stopping isn't very good to say the least. The linkages are lined up on the dots. The rear cable is adjusted to maximum, and it's a new cable, but still the brake isn't effective!
Looking at parts numbers the front and rear brake cams are different; I didn't realise this, which makes me wonder if this is the problem? When the brakes were disassembled I didn't separate the cams.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in anticipation for any help.

Have you adjusted the linkages to get both shoes contacting the drum at the same time?

Hi Guys. How I posted this in transmission must be a senior moment!!! For the same "senior" reason I'll go out now and check however I'm sure I did. Are you aware of the difference in part numbers?
Thanks for your reply and I'll get back very soon.
