14mm bushing

Post by davomoto » Fri Mar 26, 2010 12:50 pm

Has anyone used the replacement 14mm trans bushing from Classic Honda Restoration? I received three of them yesterday, and the ID is too small, and they won't slide on to the kick shaft. I'm wondering if anyone has used one of these sucessfully? I've e-mailed Tim, and will post his response.

So here's Tims' response, and I'm beginning to think I'm crazy, but the bushings will not slide over the shaft. Here's a pic of the three shafts I've tried them on. The new bushing will only slide on as far as it is in the pic!

David, Just got your email and went and got a bushing and slid it on the
kick starter spindle part #28251-259-000 this number is the same for all
Honda 305's CA, Cb, CL. The bushing slid on my spindle just like it should
? so I'm at a loss unless you have the wrong shaft in your hand,do you have
a CA, CB,or a CL77 parts book handy ? Seems something on your end does not
add up, I've sold 75 of these to guys rebuilding there engines, and I've
rebuild 25 to 30 engines here for customers with this bushing.I have no idea
what the problem is ?.....Tim

So...... just got off the phone with Tim. He tried one of the bushings from the new batch, where mine came from, and sure enough they are too small ID to slide over the kickshaft. He had 3 left from the old batch, and is sending them my way! What a great person to deal with! He was very helpful, and an absolute joy to deal with!

I've done a bit of business with him in the past year and he's been wonderful to work with. Very helpful. Great quality parts. Very prompt service.

Oh joy!!! I recently ordered one of these bushings and it is in the mail as I write this. We'll see what it looks like in a couple days. RW

Tim mentioned that he sold a few of these, and was expecting some more calls on them. Just give him a call if it's the bad one, and he;ll surely take care of it!

bushing

Post by rustywrench » Mon Mar 29, 2010 7:48 pm

My bushing came in today and as I thought it might, wrong size. Oh Shucks!!! Back it goes; that's OK cuz it's not like it's holding my riding season up. Just wanted to close this tranny up and move on. Thanks Dave for the heads up. At least it was expected.. RW
