Stuck gears

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and would surely appreciate some help from the pros here.

If I'm riding in third or fourth and and slow down to about twenty mph, 60% of the time my gears will get stuck and I can't downshift or upshift. I'm talking completely stuck. But if I turn my engine off the gears shift nice and smoothly. Turning off the engine seems to free up my tranny. Also shifting up is pretty hard. I've made all the proper adjustment to the clutch cable. Can anyone please help?

My best guess is that your clutch is still "dragging" even when you have the lever pulled. Suggest you start doing some research on clutch variations and parts, because I suspect you have something wrong in their, like warped steel plates. Just my guess.

When I was younger (and more foolish) I could, and on occasion would, shift both up and down through the gears ('66 CB77) without using the clutch, so it may be more than just the clutch adjustment.

So I finally got a chance to fix my bike. Turns out I had barnett clutch plates and they were warped. The funny thing is, my bike had five barnett clutch plates and when I installed the OEM replacement plates I had to put six + an extra friction plate. Seems to be working great now. I never thought finding neutral on this bike could be so easy. Thanks everybody! Your advice helped.
