Need help identifing clutch parts 1961 CB77

Post by deaddog » Thu May 31, 2007 6:59 am

On my bike 1961 CB77 Super Hawk engine number CB77E-110051, I am having trouble identifying the correct clutch parts to order. Here is my problem: according to Bill Silver’s information my bike should have six (6) clutch friction disk’s / it only has five (5).

The parts manual shows four (4) clutch plate B and one (1) clutch plate A. My bike has five total clutch plates but they all look identical. What is the difference between clutch plate A and clutch plate B.

Is it possible that the clutch on this bike is for a CB72 as it seems to be an early production 305 engine? Or maybe it was updated to the late model clutch; the manual shows it only requiring five (5) friction disks after engine number CB77E-1012460.

One final note, the friction disk’s are the complete fiber type, not the metal with fiber bonded.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
