another sucker need tansmission parts

Post by flannery16 » Sun Aug 01, 2004 3:05 pm

Hello,
Well after sitting since 1983 the 1966 CL77 is in the garage after a long trailer trip. Starting to take apart and cracked the case open (put away in 83 for loud banging in tranny).
Anyway any help would be great-
It appears the countershaft 2nd gear is missing 2 teeth, and the counter shaft is also cracked not allowing the gear to slide and had to pound out the rest of the gears. Looks like it cracked the bearing holder in case but usable (cracked in middle not in the inside or outside, where the pin fits in).
Any sources for parts?
looks like the low gear bushing is shot too.
Should I try to replace the kick starter spindle also?

Thanks for anyones help...
First day after 21 years!!
Thanks
Tom

Ohio Cycle is a good place to check but your best bet is gonna be to find another engine or two as a parts donors. Tranny parts are getitng tougher to come by these days.

georGe
