Hi Guys!
I am the proud new owner of a CL77 with a bum low gear and low compression
Aside from top end work and the conversion to a 360 degree crankshaft I am looking to swap some gears from the other 305 machines to make mine just right.
The Goal:
To have a good granny 1st gear and a tall 2-3-4 that will get me higher speeds than stock with a taller final sprocket arrangement.
I have been looking at the parts books and notice there is a much shorter 1st gear in the Dream...I assume this is true because I vaguely remember the Dream having a big jump from 1st to 2nd in RPM
I am assuming the following:
I can install the 1st gear and counter shaft gear from a Dream into the transmission of my CL77 for a really deep/slow speed operation, AKA Granny gear 1st - Is this correct?
Performing the X-swap of 2nd and 3rd gears seems like it would defeat the purpose of separating 1st from the group - is that right?
Is there a gear ratio/ gear teeth chart or specifications I can pull from for information?
If I am way off base then please let me know. I have had a half dozen of these 250/305's apart for all sorts of repairs and would assume the pieces will fit without issue.
Thank you for your input!!

X-in the greats won't help.
You can check the tooth numbers in the respective parts manuals.
I posted a chart a couple of years back.
Just get hold of a set of Dream gears and see what works.
