My Dream's transmission needs offset cotters and I have a spare CB engine. Are the CB cotters the later, thicker cotters and will they work in the CA?
Tanks
Use CB Cotters is CA??
Use CB Cotters is CA??
Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always had.
Do the CB and CA use the same cotters?
In short, why does the CA have the problem of inadequate gear engagement and not the CB?

Re: Use CB Cotters is CA??
The offset cotters are just a way of improving dog engagement by shifting the gear along the shaft a small amount.
CBs have dovetailed dogs which 'pull' the gears into engagement. CAs have straight dogs which don't have this feature...
Any axial play in the transmission caused by wear to the 14mm bush will accentuate the problem. With the cases apart you can check engagement and offset the gear accordingly. While you have the transmission apart check the amount of 'float' you have.
I make a kit which improves on that thin flange on the 14mm bush and also takes care of the area where the rollers run on the kickstart shaft.
