Cylinders need to come off to split the cases to replace the bearing and roller?
Or can I get at them without doing that?
Thanks all!

Re: Bottom end bearings
You need only remove the bottom case to remove the crankshaft. However, getting the pistons back into the cylinders from the bottom will be difficult, assuming it's even possible.roadcapDen wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 11:21 amCylinders need to come off to split the cases to replace the bearing and roller?

Re: Bottom end bearings
Years ago I heard a story about the Honda S800 sports car engines. Apparently some of them had been fitted with suspect bearings or something on the crank, I suppose it could have even have been the pistons and rings. shells. They were subject to an official reccall for repairs
Apparently the repair procedure was to remove the crankshaft complete with bearings from underneath. To replace it was a case of getting all four pistons level and wriggling it about until they entered the bores, if there was a decent shallow chamfer on the bottom of the liners probably wouldn't have been that difficult.
Thinking about it, I believe these engines had roller bearing big ends like the road bikes of the day. If that was the case I can't see another way of doing the job, ideas anyone?

Re: Bottom end bearings
TO replace the chain roller (not the chain tensioner) does require the removal of the head and cylinder assy.

Re: Bottom end bearings
After a great conversation with "the guru" Ed aka emo aka lm, I'm doing a full service on this engine and will get into the bottom end in due time.
Many thanks
