mufflers for cb77 1965

I was trying to search the forum to find some replacement mufflers for my 65 cb77. I have from what i have been told webco??? exhaust on it now. I have lost the removable baffles and they are just straight through and really loud. I was looking at these http://www.jcwhitney.com/emgo-universal ... 8y2001u0j1 i think i read somewhere on the forum where someone had used these...anyone had any luck with them?

Vinve Lupo used them on his Superhawk but reckoned that the mounting channel on the back was weak and split after a while. He does use his bike a lot though.

They look nice and work well otherwise.

For the money they're fine, but yes, I found their weakness was that mounting channel. I had three separate mufflers fracture at the same point, so just something to be aware of. As well, they hang down a bit lower than the stock mufflers, so you're going to lose a little bit of ground clearance. No knee dragging with these!

I've been running them for a year and have been happy with them.

For the money I'd be surprised if you'll find better.

Good finish , easy to install, good fit.

is there a way to fix them if it happens or are they just no good once they fracture? i have a 20% off code for jc whitney that expires today and can get the set for $116 plus tax shipped, so it may be a good deal.

I suppose you can simply weld the fracture, but I don't know how that would affect the chrome finish on the rest of the muffler. Where it specifically happens is on the 'face' of that mounting channel bracket on the backside of the muffler.

ok thanks, i think i will give them a try. I found them on ebay on jc whitneys ebay store for under $100 shipped, so i think its worth a try.

just ordered a set for $105 shipped (had to pay sales tax in ohio)

Maybe i will put my webco exhaust up for sale and see what happens
