I've been trying other materials because, while the gasket paper guide came out well, it will hold moisture. I don't want rust. I've also tried: shim stock, which was too brittle and stiff; plastic from a bottle, which was too thick, and; the best so far, a plastic file folder. It was thin, easy to cut and I was able to use the folded edge for the tabs.
