Throttle Reassembly

Post by sstaylor » Tue Jun 06, 2006 12:39 pm

Greetings,

I have removed the old cable and installed the new one. However, I am having trouble with the throttle. There is an extended "C" clip in the throttle, but I do not know where in the housing that it goes. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

TIA,
Scott

Not sure what clip you mean, mabey the one that is shaped like a butterfly? If that is the one,it goes on the top of the throttle slide and holds in the needle. It is secured by the outer edges snapping into a relief around the inner slide. Hope that will help, Good Luck with it! Steve Greer

throttle reassembly

Steve,

Thanks for getting back to me. No, I'm having trouble at the other end of the cable. It's some kind of adjuster piece or something that fits into the throttle housing on the bar. Shaped like a "C"or a "U".

OK got you now! That is sort of a spring that adds tension to the twist grip when you are turning it.It goes in the bottom half of the shell that the throttle cable retainer turns in,Hope that makes sence,Steve

I wanted to add one more item to this: That spring also helps keep the throttle cable in its groove should the cable be sticky at the carb end and you roll back the throttle it could come out and bunch up or kink inside the throttle handle. I hope Iv'e got that clear enough.........not sure. Steve Greer

Steve,

I noticed that there is a hole in both the spring and the bottom half of the throttle shell. Do I need to screw the clip down?

Thanks
