main jet holder unobtainable?

Post by chiboy002 » Tue Jul 05, 2011 11:31 pm

hey guys

new here but i own an cs90 with a pw22hov carb and im still trying to figure out the proper jetting... might need help with that one lol

but to my surprise... i found today that my main jet holder was crushed and warped where it is supposed to touch the main jet (?) [the one that is pressed into the carb body]

i googled, checked keihin, keyster, honda dealership and no one seems to have these in stock.

Can anybody help me out, cause some of the emulsion holes are crushed shut.

Thanks guys,
chiboy

That's the needle jet it reaches up to touch. The main jet is the slotted jet that screws into the bottom.

If the only real problem is the holes squashed (and that's not insignificant) then it may be possible to open them up with a really small 0.6- 0.8mm drill.

I did a quick check on Bikebandit and found that part for a CT and CL90. Try your local dealer and see if they can get one for you

ok so the main jet holder is what its called right?

the shaft part (touches needle jet) is crushed and cracked. It's pretty bad, i'll get a pic today. The hole is completely shut but yea i can reopen it. The problem is, since its out of shape the needle doesn't slide in easily so the throttle slide will stay open

a cl90 would be compatible with a cl72 carb?
i'll be calling dealership today and seeing what they say, but it wasn't on their parts fiche

we're talking super 90 here? do you have a part #? I have a lot of 90's stuff, I'll look. I'm assuming Keihin? not Mikuni.
Thanks

my frame is cl90 but it shares the same engine, frame, etc as the super 90.

However, my carburetor is a pw22hov, from a cb72, so i dont think it will share anything similar to an s90

i found the needle jet holder via ohio cycle, but i wanna change my needle jet at the same time just to be sure.

are stock cb77 needle jets the same as stock cb72 needle jets? I would assume not but just wanna make sure, cause ohio cycle doesnt have any 72 jets

Oh my. That is junk. How hard did someone try to tighten that poor little part?

I'm sure that a CB72 part is shorter than the 77 but I don't have one here to compare. But if push comes to shove it might be possible to modify a CB77 part. The cross holes (bleeds) are different according to the manual but the carb is not on a CB72, so who knows how well or badly it will work.

If all you can get is CB77, get one, compare it and try it if it fits. It's not too expensive. That's what I do and it's why I have some interesting cross breeds and some parts I'll never use.
