Sticking slides on cl77 carbs
Sticking slides on cl77 carbs
I'm sure some of you have had to deal with sticking slides on you bikes. I've cleaned the carbs, put in a rebuild kit and had the bike running, although only for a couple of days before putting it away for the year. I drained the carbs and when I went to start it the slides stick and the throttle stays wide open. I pulled the slides and cleaned them along with the carb bore with cleaner and no luck. Any one have any ideas?

Re: Sticking slides on cl77 carbs
A couple of things cause this with these old carbs. I'd check the mounting nuts tightness. If they are over tight the carb body warps. Also sometimes a new "O" ring will cause the carb to warp.
My experence with these old carbs is that sometimes ya need to using 600 wet or dry sandpaper sand the inside of the carb barrel. Then using the slide in and out you may see a polished IGHG SPOT.
Sand that area until the slide moves freely. ....................................lm
