Petcock Bowl Replacement?

Post by RichardWlkr » Mon Feb 06, 2017 9:46 pm

Hey all,

Is JB weld an acceptable way to repair a petcock bowl with a hole in it? Should I just weld instead?

Also, can anyone give me a recommendation for a decent petcock rebuild kit?

Thanks so much.

A local friend who prepares bikes for the race track uses JB Weld for multiple things including modifying the shapes of intake ports and carburetors. He finds it to work well in the presence of gasoline. If you were to mix it with aluminum powder I think you would have a very good repair.

Weld?

What kind of metal is the petcock bowl made from on these bikes? I'm taking an introductory welding class and I'm thinking I could bring it in one day and fix the small hole for good.

Thanks much LoudMouse, I'll give you a call tomorrow as I'm stuck away from the bike this evening.
