Have been restoring '65 Dream and am tired of dealing with this crossover tube. I've read that it's really not needed, just means the bottom 1/4 gal of gas won't get into the carb from the left side (you know, unless I'm REALLY draggin my right knee).

And I've read about guys that simply remove the tube and plug up the fittings.

So what's the best way to seal those up? Can I plug them effectively without making this modification permanent?

I just put a few inches of fuel line in each side and screwed an appropriately large bolt into the fuel lines and secured them with hose clamps.

Motion Pro sell an inline coupler that stops the fuel flow on both ends when disconnected. I personally plug them with a short length of hose.

Many many years ago I got a longer length of plastic tube and connected it so it followed the shape of the tank up and over the frame. Still there and saved a lot of hassles.
