After staring real hard at photos of tubes for CLs and CBs, I concluded that Ed was correct and that the tubes I have are actually CL tubes. Not much of a difference, less than half an inch in length, but it's enough to prevent their use with the proper air cleaners I bought. Oh yes, I was holding a scale up to my computer screen to compare the diameters with the lengths. This old-techno-meets-new-techno exercise was pretty exciting. Anyway, I cut about 1/4" or so at a slight angle off the ends that attach to the air cleaners and hose-clamped 'em to the air cleaners...you can't see the hose clamps after the covers are mounted. Randall, these tubes are not in the best shape, cracks and so forth, so if I'd sold them to you you would probably be less than impressed, thanks for the offer anyway.
I may end up buying new tubes in the future, but I feel I need to get the damn thing to start before I work on those second-tier problems.
