lh carb wont adjust

Post by 305 nutt » Fri Aug 15, 2008 11:56 pm

I've had problems with my superhawk for a while not being able to adjust the lh carb. It idles off the right. The left cylinder is firing and getting fuel ok, the plug is chocolate color just like rh. The bike doesn't rev up fast like my scrambler and you can turn the lh carb idle screw in all the way and all it does is kills the bike. Never revs up. Out on the road it runs like a screamin demon. I'm just not getting the throttle response off bottom it ought to. Also very lean on cold start. Have to run choke for at least 1/2 mile or so. Needles are in middle, 2nd from bottom made it run bad. Jets are 140 and 42. Any help would be appreciated. Also, carb slides are in right. thanks nutt

Thanks Ed, I'll give that a try. I did your tune up and it worked fabulous! Now if I could just get the carb right she ought to run like a dream. nutt

Check your oring on idle and air screws. Also, have you had the gas tank off? The cable routing may not allow smooth actuation of the cables to both carbs. Good luck!

Got it, put in 135 main jets, brought the needles up 1 notch and she runs perfect. Thanks guys for the help, I was really baffled! nutt
