After pulling all right-side engine covers, briefly bump the starter to inspect why the starter chain can be hanging up behind the rotor. Here's the best pic I can find showing what might be this part and it's location. This is a picture I found on the internet. Great progress and thanks for the photo updates. Really like the patina-on-white effect. The sliding rod on brake light switch is mechanical. When pulled down by the spring-dampered linkage, the brake light circuit is switched On. Some electronic contact cleaner can free up and clean the sliding rod...

The rocker arm pins should be flush. Use a brass drift and tap-tap until the pins are seated.
