Re: Crankcase clacking when hot - NOT kickstart

Had a similar experience with 1967 CL77 Scrambler. Same type of noise. One of the 6mm knock bolts (90081-253-000) that secure the cam chain guide roller pin had totally backed out, causing the chain guide assembly to swivel slightly on the remaining knock bolt, binding / twisting the chain and guide...

Re: How screwed am I?

Interesting to speculate about how so much water accumulated in the Scrambler's cylinders. Parked in wet weather, or was it hosed down with spark plugs removed? The rest of the bike shows wear and tear, but doesn't show a comparable amount of rust, corrosion and water damage. About the camshaft: How...

Re: Left air filter side cover / pipes removal

On a CL77 or CL72; many will say to completely remove the pipes, then the LH side cover can be removed. If lucky and your CL77 is cooperative, the following method can work: Remove the muffler can if so-equipped. Loosen both exhaust pipes at the head just slightly, which allows some wiggle movement....

Re: Half wave rectifier

The S65 Manual has been emailed.

FWIW, The manual describes selenium rectifiers for specific models:
The C50M and C65M are equipped with a full wave rectifier. The C50, C65, S50 and S65 are equipped with half wave rectifiers.

Re: Half wave rectifier

I have access to a complete Honda Workshop Manual for Honda 65 series and Honda 50 series models. Published in August 1966. It's a large file (50+ MB) so it would have to be emailed. The workshop manual has several pages discussing the charging system and selenium rectifier, including graphs, photos...
