After pulling all right-side engine covers, briefly bump the starter to inspect why the starter chain can be hanging up behind the rotor. Here's the best pic I can find showing what might be this part and it's location. This is a picture I found on the internet. This does not appear to be the same location as the knock pin and the bolt looks like the one that comes up by the spark plug hole. Does this look familiar? https://www.honda...

Great progress and thanks for the photo updates. Really like the patina-on-white effect. The sliding rod on brake light switch is mechanical. When pulled down by the spring-dampered linkage, the brake light circuit is switched On. Some electronic contact cleaner can free up and clean the sliding rod...

The rocker arm pins should be flush. Use a brass drift and tap-tap until the pins are seated.
