If you look at it you will notice that if it were lined up better the ignition timing would be more advanced then it is. Just make the point gap a little smaller.

40 mph rattle
Hard to say for sure, being as I can't hear it from here. From the description it sounds a lot like the little rattle /tinkle noise I get with mine. I believe it is caused by loose wrist pin fit. While you are inspecting & lubing the release threads look inside and make sure there is a 5/16 ball inside where it will push aginst the push rod. When changing cables they often fall out and make a beeline for the devils triangle, never to seen agine.
