Re: Dream CA77 305cc bogging down

You have to realise that this engine only delivers its maximum torque and power at high engine speed and the gearbox is very badly designed, with a huge gap between 3rd and 4th. I can't climb a hill with my C72 in 4th gear if the engine speed isn't high, and most of the time I shift back to 3rd gear...

Re: "Grinding' noise from transmission

My C72 also makes transmission noise. It hasn't got many miles on it and I've dismantled the gearbox, which is in very good condition. I think that this noise is normal, due to the gearbox pinions which are on the right side (I doubt the translation "pignons à taille droite") and which whistle like ...

Re: new guy here with some questions

The charging circuit on '60s Honda models is a bit unusual. There's only a rectifier and no regulator, because there are two circuits, one producing just enough energy to recharge the battery and the other to operate the headlights, which only comes on when the lights are on, as the bulbs absorb the...

Re: new guy here with some questions

An MPO8 coil, originally fitted on a Honda(600/900 cbr etc....), can easily be found second-hand for very little money and there's no doubt about the quality.

Re: Great to have such a forum, I'm just passing through

The US version of the headlight is a sealed beam, it must be modified. I believe the Europeans had headlights with replaceable bulbs. That was the case on many vehicles back then. Indeed, I had forgotten this American particularity .... that I never understood. I had this on my 1000 Goldwing which ...
