someone also told me to soak the petcock in a can of gas overnight so the rubber parts would swell, does that sound right?

I have a 66 CA77 and the original petcock leaked very badly so I got the re-build kit and installed it and it still leaks very badly. It looks to be installed corectly but the leaver still seems loose. Can anyone here help me out with this?

Any help would be geratly appreciated...
