It's funny I actually just put the original plates back in. After soaking in oil for a couple of days they seem to be just fine.

Put a couple of miles on in it last night and it's working well! Getting into 2nd gear is another story, damn it's hard...

Turns out it was the thickness of the friction disks. The new ones I got were way to thin and did not allow for enough pressure to keep the inner basket from rotating.

This is on a '65 CL72 with a 305 in the frame. I replaced the friction disk's in the clutch pack, cleaned everything up and put it back together.
