Seadog,

Those screws were pricey but being NOS, they worked. Thanks!

DJM,
How hard a smack should I give it? Kinda gun-shy here as I hate to break or bend something. That locking bolt is in there real tight although I can squirt some PB Blaster at the bolt threads and it'll come out from the cam sprocket on the other end.

Anyone have any other tips here?

CA versus CL transmissions

Are the transmission shafts, shifter, gears, etc., the same for CL and CA engines? I have a CA77 but I'm thinking of buying a seized CL engine for the tranny parts.

Camshaft removals

Once again, I turn to the experts on how to solve my problem of removing the right camshaft. Left side came out after some aggressive persuasion. It seemed like the splined end of the shaft was "stuck" in the camshaft sprocket. Now the right one won't let go. What I can't figure out is the purpose o...

Need a source for pre-1967 JIS thread pitch screws.

Greetings all! Am having problems finding NOS or good used screws that have the old JIS thread pitch. All the stuff I've gotten are ISO thread pitch which won't work in my 1965 Dream. Am especially looking for the screws that hold the points plate to the cylinder head side cover and the screws that ...

Hey all, thanks for the responses. I did get the nut to finally loosen and unscrew (left handed) and managed the get the points-side camshaft out. Such fun it is!

Camshaft locknut-how do you loosen the bloody thing?

I know the locknut has left hand threads but what my senior mind can't figure out is what that nut is threaded onto. I tried wedging a piece of hardwood between the head casting and the sprocket but I am unsure of which direction to turn the nut to loosen it up. Twisting it in either direction resul...
