HT, I was able to locate a halfway decent used shifter shaft for my CL-77 on E-Bay. As I am sure you know, the issue with this part is finding a used one where the splines are not all chewed-up. In fact, the condition of the splines on the bike when I bought it were nonexistent! Previous owner clamp...

Thanks H.T. The link you provided shows exactly the problem I encountered. I did a search of the forum, but don't recall seeing this post. G-Man was going to do more checking, but I never followed-up with him. I took a picture of the part, but after about 1.5 hrs. of trying this & that, could not ge...

Gear Shift Shaft
Hope someone on the forum can help me identify the following part. A few months ago I bought a used gear shift shaft for my 1967 CL-77. After a few months I finally got around to installing it. To my great disappointment found that the shaft was too long by about .194 inch. This prevents the left ha...

Thanks Ed. Will assemble with washers & without to check on differences. I suspect that the washers rotate and reduce the "stick/slip" torque when tightening the nipples. I would also believe that the distance that the spoke is seated in the nipple will be a factor (might stick out too much beyond n...

Randy, thanks for the heads-up on lube qty. I am in fact working with Buchanan's spokes which they supplied with small vials of lube. I guess I will substitute Dow-Corning Molykote G-n Assembly Lube., which I have a large qty. of (pounds of it). For others on the forum I can attest that it is an exc...

Thanks for the reply G-Man. Not too much to work on around here (central New York), during the Winter, so I intend to take my time (I'm also retired). I've done a fair amount of machine work, so have indicators and can build makeshift fixturing, etc. to get the job done. The manufacturer of the spok...

Spoke Lacing
I am about ready to reassemble my CL77 front & rear wheels. Never done this before and have gathered up info. on this forum & other internet sources. I have a couple of questions that I couldn't find an answer to that hopefully someone on the forum can help me with. First one is, there were conical ...
