Re: Other things to look for...

J: Congratulations and good for you for a 'first time' undertaking of an engine rebuild! If you haven't already done so, be sure you remove and clean under the lower case oil baffles (OIL SEPARATOR 11751-259-000). If not removed, you would be amazed at how much crud can survive a steam/pressure clea...

RE: The Scrambler Won't Start

I would check the timing, especially if it backfired during the 'reving up'. Sometimes that can cause the advance to stick on.

Cheers,

weight

I was surprised at the difference in the weight of 250 and 305 pistons when I weighed them so having the "correct" crank in must help minimise vibration, I know my current CB72 vibrates more than my mate's at high ( >6000 RPM ) revs, which could be down to the crank thats in it. RE:Mirror mounting issues after replacing perches

Most of the bigger motorcycle shops carry/sell the adapters. Don't get the ones that work with Yamaha, as they have one clockwise and one counter clockwise thread.

RE: replacement speedomoter/tach needles

This guy is on ebay, high satisfaction rating (99.9%) and seems to have a pile of speedo/tach stuff, including needles. May have something that would work!

digital-dash-solutions

I have NOT used them, but they look to be well established.

RE: Yet another weird advance problem

Hi Jack: (Don't say that loudly in an airport....)

One thing to check is your cam chain tensioner, to be sure there is no excessive rotation/movement in the camshaft. If there is, you won't be able to get the timing right, no matter what you do!

Good luck,
CJ
