Thanks. Looking at the wiring diagrams for the Honda and the Kohler, that makes sense.

I'm using a NOS battery. I hope this prolongs its life. At $100 a pop, I can't afford to replace it every season.

I ordered a Kohler three-terminal regulator/rectifier. I'm not sure what the three terminals correspond to and if they perform the same functions as the three tabs on the stock three wire rectifier. What I got from Kohler is a 41 403 10-S. From what I can see in the wiring diagrams for Kohler engine...

Mine is a '64. The stock rectifier is three wires--brown/yellow/red. It's like the one seen below.

I don't understand why it would be necessary to tie any wires together.

Kohler regulator--does that wiring work?

Wiring for Kohler regulator? Anyone running one?

Anyone know which wires from the stock harness connect to which terminals? I've seen one picture that shows, looking from the back of the ...

I'll try the John Deere Kohler one

I'm going to get the Kohler one that's referenced above.

I wish I had known about this when I bought the new selenium rectifier. It looks like the Kohler replaces both parts.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Blown Bulb. Any way to put a regulator in the circuit?

I've got a halogen headlight system from Charlie's Place on my CA77. It works well, but the filament on the low-beam side has burned out after only a few hundred miles. The The only cause I can think of is excess voltage now that I've got the moter broken in and I'm allowing it to run at higher revs...
