How the speedo/tacho combo was originally fixed is unknown to me. When i bought the bike some small dismantling had already been done (and thus some parts had been lost too)... Scrubbed the zone around the number and no serial to be found. Took a better picture too. Apparently that means i have a replacement case? But since it has the tower breather on top it must have run into trouble early in its life? How long was this type around? I read around a bit more on this site ...

I got curious, so I went back out after reading this. There is not a lot of light around the bench where I have the engine on, so quality of the picture is only soso, but should be good enough to make sure I'm looking in the right spot. I would expect a number in the rectangle the arrow is pointing ...

What year is my cb72 project?
I'll probably also create a post in the restoration forum, but would like to find out a bit more about my bike first. I'm pretty sure it's a cb72, since that's what the frame number begins with. The rest leaves me a little clueless. A quick googlesearch didn't immediately reveal a list of serial num...
