I found LM's explained order in a previous post. there was no mention of year of that bike. Mine is a 65 but I'll give it a shot because this is closest to the parts I have. how difficult would it be to drop the lower half and inspect/service the transmission without dropping th motor? as the bike stands?

I have mine in the same state. Is the drum supposed to have some play or is it supposed to be unmovable and tight where it is? I was trying to remove the retainer put obviously i need to spin the drum to allow access to the Philips head screws. I am hoping I have problems limited to this area but be...

one other thing, I put the case back on yesterday and went around the block. shifted fine for a minute, then a no good, would not shift down to 1st. had to rev up 2nd to get it home. I think I heard a grind, not sure, It just seems as though the spindle won't turn. got to be related to a bigger prob...
