Re: X crossing 2nd gear set and 3rd gear set.
To answer your question, you need to make a table for your CA of the standard and crossed ratios like the one Tim Alman included in his post. Then look at the ratio gaps when shifting. As you have heard from others, for me it was a BIG improvement for my CB77. I liked the fact both second and third ...

Re: Erodes electrode on CB77
The timing was fine, and carb jets were not blocked. It turns out there was a n air leak between carb snd head. Boy, those o rings are hard to find.

Erodes electrode on CB77
Took a nice ride up the Angeles Crest yesterday. When I checked the plugs back home, I noticed the right plug was dead white and no electrode above the ceramic. Surprisingly, ran ok but missed a bit. So, a plus for points ign! Se photo of electrode. My advance has been fixed, so next to check are pl...

Re: Engine seizure/advance repair
Ok, after about 100 miles it’s time to recheck the valve clearance. While I’m in there I’ll check whether the problem with excess maximum advance has been solved. Done. Thought I heard some excess clatter. One intake valve was a bit loose. Now they are all 0.004”. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I...

Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)
My guess is that your SuperHot (per Brendan) will at least overheat and seize. Also, the spark plug electrodes will likely erode away before the pistons melt. Don’t ask how I know all this.
Check your timing is correct static and at full advance.

Diagnosing miss at tip in. New trick?
I decided to post this since I have now discovered this same problem for both a 1963 CB77 and a 1971 SL350 K1. The symptom is when first letting out the clutch at a start and twisting the throttle the engine misses. I also noticed this during steady low-speed riding. This does not keep you from ridi...

CB77 Float Height Redux
There has been a lot of discussion on this site regarding the proper setting of the carb floats: 1. lm used to have a description of this in the FAQ section, although I cannot find it now. In short, he says to set the floats so that the bottom of the floats are lined up with the bottom of the main j...
