I borrowed an RMS VOM and measured voltage at the battery and the output of the Podtronics. 12.6 VDC, rising to 12.7 VDC at 4000 RPM. I think it works!

That's still only 'maintenance' voltage being generated. I'd think it would need to be over 13 volts to be really 'charging'.

Connect those two wires and let the regulator do its stuff.
You're losing at least 30% and probably up to 50% by not doing that.

Thanks, Graham! I've been so busy, the bike has been on a back burner. I'll definitely do that, though.

No problem. I 'retired' last March and I am still trying to get on top of jobs. Trying to re-organize my workshop and really must stop taking on new things when I already have plenty to do.
Not 'going to work' means that you lose your main excuse for controlling what you get into.....
I hope you get some 'me time' in the future....
