Thanks for the info on shocks. I was told by a friend that 'all white Honda shock top covers were metal' and have just been conducting a survey ... :-)

Well, I don't actually know what the original color of the bike was, but I think it was white. I'll check when I get a chance.

Looks like you have a very good bike to bring back to life to me.
G man my 1964 white bike has the metal shock covers.

Yeah, it was a running and almost 100% complete bike when my father took it apart.

Might have suffered a bit a of a set back today. The carburetor was off the bike and I wanted to pressure wash it and get all the dirt and grime off of it so I cut a piece off a shop rag and stuffed it in the intake to keep water out. I hadn't told my father that the motor wasn't locked up so when he came over to look at it he hit the kick starter a few times to see if it was locked up. I'm not 100% for sure, but since I can't find the rag, I think it may have been sucked down the intake when he was cranking on it. Is that possible? The rag was in there pretty snug, would cranking on the motor create any suction, and if so, would it be enough to actually suck the rag down the intake?
